Aaliyah was a popular American singer, actress, dancer and
model, who have won many awards. Aaliyah was also a well-known idol
among the teens of America. R. Kelly, a renowned pop and R&B singer
introduced her to her listeners.
Aaliyah grew to fame during the mid nineties with a number of hit scores released by the Timbaland and Missy Elliot’s team. Though Aaliyah had a brief career, she enjoyed success and is known to have sold almost 32 million records across the whole world. She had also worked as a model for the famous brand Tommy Hilfiger and acted in two movies prior to her death. She died in a plane crash in 2001.
In 1993 Aaliyah’s uncle, Barry Hanker son signed her for his label Black ground Records when Aaliyah was 14. ‘Age Ain’t Nothing but a
Number’, her first album, came out in 1994. R. Kelly, who was working
with Aaliyah’s uncle wrote most of the songs for that album and even
produced the album. This album was certified within a very short time
period. The singles in this album included “Age Ain’t Nothing but a
Number”, “Down with the Clique” and “Back and Forth”. Most of these were
hit numbers of that time and had a huge sale of more than 2 million
copies.
In 2001 Aaliyah and some members of the record company, which she owned,
went to The Bahamas (Marsh Harbor) for the video shoot of “Rock the
Boat”. She and the members boarded a Cessna 402B, which crashed on the
25th of August, 2001, just after the plane took off.

‘One in a Million’, her second album, came out on the 27th of August,
1997 when Aaliyah was 17. It remained as a major success in her entire
brief, but successful career. Other hit albums released by Aaliyah were
‘Aaliyah’ and ‘I Care 4 U’.
Aaliyah managed to double up her talent in her performance on television and in films with a charming presence, an enchanting voice and graceful dance moves. She had in fact, performed in ‘All That’, a series on Nickelodeon in her early life. She made an appearance as Aaliyah only in 1994 in a drama called “New York Undercover” and in 1996 she once again seen in her number “One in a Million”. |
