Myra Ellen Amos, better known as Tori Amos is a famous pianist and singer-songwriter of America.

 There were very few pop performers who used piano as their prime instrument; among them Tori Amos was one. Most of her songs revolve around subjects like religion, sexuality and personal tragedy, with which the listeners can relate to.
On 22nd August, 1963 Tori Amos took birth at the Old Catawba Hospital, North Carolina. Tori Amos started playing piano from the age of two and by the time she was nine she had already started composing instrumental pieces on the piano and adding lyrics to them.

Tori Amos earned immense recognition when she was just doing her high schooling. At the age of 21 Tori Amos moved to Los Angeles to polish her skills and pursue recognition for her musical talents. She got married to Mark Hawley on 22nd February, 1998 and gave birth to Natashya ‘Tash’ Lorien Hawley after two years of her married life.
In 1985 she came up with her first musical group, named Y Kant Tori Read. The band came out with their first album in the year 1988 with the name Y Kant Tori Read. Proper recognition was not received by this album. However, it was during the period of 1990-96 that Tori Amos attained success and fame. The album named Little Earthquakes brought in laurels.
In 1994 she co-founded The Rape Abuse and Incest National Network. Boys of Pele, the next album of Tori Amos received mixed reviews. Some of her songs talked about the social subjects like sexuality and religion.

The songs of Tori Amos which topped the charts are ‘Silent All These Years’, ‘Caught a Lite Sneeze’, ‘A Sorta Fairytale’, ‘Cornflake Girl’, ‘Professional Widow’ and ‘Crucify’. Tori Amos is one of the most renowned tourist singers across the world. Besides stage shows she has been performing for several bars and clubs as well. Some of the major tours she has undergone are Dew Drop Inn Tour, Five and a Half Weeks Tour and American Doll Posse World Tour.
She has been nominated for Grammy Awards almost every year. In addition, Tori Amos was nominated in four different categories for MTV Video Music Awards, 1992.
