 Mary J. Blige is a famous American music artist. She sings and writes soul, hip hop and R & B songs. She is even a popular actress, record producer and rapper. Over 40 million records and 10 million single songs by Mary J. Blige have been sold all over the world.
Mary J. Blige is popular internationally as “Queen of Hip Hop Soul”. She has won eight Grammy Awards and has been nominated for 26 of these awards. In her early career, her gritty voice along with her extremely personal songs has allowed her evaluation to the early soul singers, like, Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle. Her evolution as an artist and her successful career over the years, have taken her to an influential position

Mary J. Blige recorded an unrehearsed cover of “Rapture” by Anita Baker in 1988. Jeff Redd, an A&R ‘Uptown Records’ runner and a recording artist, sent this cover to Andre Harell, CEO and president of Uptown Records. Mary J. Blige became the first and youngest female singer of that company in 1989. In 1990 she debuted as a playback singer for Jeff Red in an Apollo Theatre performance. Her first album, ‘What’s the 411?’ was released on the 28th of July in 1992.
The first single of this album was “You Remind Me”, which was at number 1 on the music chart of R&B singles and number 29 on the music chart of Billboard Hot 100. “Real Love”, the second single song got released in winter. It was at the top position at the chart of R&B singles. These two singles went Gold.
“My Life” - Mary J. Blige’s second album was “My Life”, which was gloomier than her first album. The first single of this album, “Be Happy”, got the number 29 position on the music chart of Hot 100 and number 6 on the chart of R&B singles.
“Share My World”, Mary J. Blige’s third album was released on the 22nd of April in 1997 by MCA Records. The producers of this album comprised Babyface, R. Kelly, Rodney Jerkins and Chucky Thompson. This album featured four lovely singles.
