Nelly made record deals with DreamWorks Records

Nelly Kim Furtado was born in 2nd December, 1978. She shot to fame in the year 2000. She was talented  as a singer as well as a songwriter, a record producer and a musician. Nelly Furtado was born in Victoria, Canada but now holds Portuguese citizenship.
Nelly Kim Furtado shows immense interest in experimenting with different instruments, languages, vocal styles, sounds, effects and genres. Her vast interest in different cultures which makes her to come across different methods and styles of various artists.
Nelly Furtado first performed in front of an audience at the age of four at the local church. At the age of nine she started playing instruments and by the time she was twelve, Nelly was writing songs. Some of the instruments she is able to play are the trombone, the guitar, keyboards and the ukulele.
Nelly made record deals with Dream Works Records early in her career and her first single ‘Party’s Just Begun was released in the year 1999. In October 2000 Nelly tasted real success with the release of her debut album ‘Whoa, Nelly!’.
Nelly Kim Furtado’s debut album had sold a massive five million copies worldwide. Her songs were upbeat and filled with enthusiasm and hope for the future. Exposure to the varied cultures greatly influenced the way she made her songs.

Nelly’s second album was the Folklore which was released in November 2003. She performed at the Final of the 2004 European Football Championship in front of a large crowd. The album did not do well in the market as DreamWorks Records was just being sold to Universal Music Group.
Her third album, Loose, was very spontaneous and creative. It was released in 2006 and met with instant success. She feels that her two year old daughter made her songs very youthful.
Nelly won the prestigious Grammy Awards for the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance category. The song which bagged for her the prized trophy was ‘I’m like a Bird’. Her other works also met with success and had four Grammy Awards nominations. Other awards include BRIT Awards, Juno Awards and the MTV Europe Music Awards.
